TL;DR

  • The best ElevenLabs alternatives in 2026 compared on price, free plans, commercial rights and the jobs each tool does better than ElevenLabs.
On this page

The best ElevenLabs alternative depends on what you are missing. If it is price or a free plan you can use, look at Kveeky or Typecast. If it is presentation or team features, look at Murf or WellSaid. ElevenLabs still leads on realism and API.

Last updated: October 31, 2026. Every plan detail below was checked on October 17, 2026, against each vendor's own pages.

Most people searching this have a specific complaint. The free plan is small, paid minutes cost more than expected, or the credit rules feel hard to follow. This guide covers 5 tools, says where each one wins, and says plainly where ElevenLabs is still the better pick.

Key Takeaways

  • ElevenLabs leads on realism, voice choice and API. It lists a far larger voice library than Kveeky, instant and professional cloning, and SDKs for developers. If you need those, stay.
  • Its free plan is not for business use. ElevenLabs Free gives 10,000 credits a month (about 10 minutes) and no commercial licence. Commercial use starts on Starter at $6/month.
  • Kveeky is the simple, low-cost option. Free is 500 credits a month (about 40 seconds) with no credit card. Basic is $9/month, or $7.50 billed yearly, for 100 minutes.
  • Murf, WellSaid and Typecast suit narrower jobs. Murf fits slide and e-learning work, WellSaid fits teams, and Typecast offers pitch and emotion controls plus cloning from $5/month.
  • Speechify is for listening, not for producing voiceovers, so it is the weakest swap for most ElevenLabs users.

Why people switch

People leave ElevenLabs for 3 reasons: a small free plan, a higher cost per minute, and a lot of models and credit rules to learn. None of these is a quality complaint.

ElevenLabs Free is about 10 minutes a month and is limited to non-commercial use under its Terms. Credits do not roll over, and extra minutes cost about $0.36 on its pricing page. Starter is $6/month for about 30 minutes, and the cheapest plan with a professional voice clone is Creator at $22/month.

There are also real reasons to stay. ElevenLabs lists more than 10,000 voices, more than 90 languages on its newest model, audio tags for emotion, and an API with SDKs. Those are vendor figures, and the voice totals on its own pages do not agree with each other.

Kveeky

Kveeky is the closest swap if you want a plain workflow: paste a script, pick a voice, set speed, volume and emotion, then download MP3 or WAV. It has a large voice library across many languages, and you can browse the Kveeky language pages to check yours.

What it costs, from the pricing page:

  • Free: 500 credits a month, standard voices, no credit card. One credit is one character, so this is about 40 seconds of audio.
  • Basic: $9/month, or $7.50/month billed yearly, with 75,000 credits (100 minutes).
  • Pro: $19.99/month, or $12.50/month billed yearly, with 100,000 credits (133 minutes).

Every paid plan includes commercial usage rights for generated audio.

Where Kveeky is weaker: ElevenLabs leads on realism and API, and its voice library is much larger. Kveeky has speed, volume and 6 emotions, and no pitch control. The free plan is smaller than ElevenLabs Free. Play the samples before you decide.

Murf AI

Murf is a studio editor built around presentations and training. Its vendor page lists integrations with Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint and Adobe Captivate, plus a voice changer, dubbing and an API.

  • Free: $0, no credit card, 2 projects and 10 minutes of voice generation. The page we read does not say whether downloads are included.
  • Paid: Creator starts at $19/month billed annually, and Business at $66/month billed annually.
  • Rights: Murf says it gives full commercial usage rights for audio made with its converter. Plan-by-plan terms were not stated.

The catch: plan allowances were not readable on the pages we checked, so you cannot work out a cost per minute. Murf lists more than 200 voices and more than 35 languages, both vendor figures.

WellSaid Labs

WellSaid is aimed at companies producing training and product audio. Its pricing page lists shared workspaces, review and feedback, up to 48 kHz export on Pro and Business, and Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Express integrations.

  • Free: 3 download minutes a month and 10 minutes of generation. No commercial rights.
  • Starter: $10/month billed annually ($120/year) or $19/month billed monthly. That is 240 download minutes a year, or 20 a month on monthly billing.
  • Rights: all paid plans include full commercial usage rights.

The catch: Starter and Pro list English voices only. Other languages are named for Enterprise. At $19/month for 20 minutes, it is the most expensive per minute in this guide.

Typecast

Typecast is the pick if you want delivery controls and cloning without a high price. Its pricing page lists an Instant Cloning slot on the $5/month Basic plan, and speed and basic emotion controls from Plus at $19/month.

  • Free: 3,000 download credits, once, not monthly (about 5 minutes). No commercial licence, and attribution is required.
  • Basic: $5/month ($54 billed yearly) for 30,000 credits (about 35 minutes), a commercial licence and all AI voices.
  • API: a free API plan exists, with paid tiers at $15 and $280 a month.

The catch: the page gave conflicting voice counts (600+ and 700+), and we could not confirm which plan includes pitch control. Check that before you pay.

Speechify

Speechify is built mainly for listening: documents, web pages and books read aloud at up to 5x, with AI summaries and cloud-drive integrations. Studio is a separate voiceover product.

  • Free: 10 voices that the vendor itself describes as robotic sounding.
  • Premium: $29/month billed monthly, with no minute limit shown on the page we read.
  • Rights: commercial use, cloning and API terms were not on the pages we checked.

Pick it only if listening is the job. For voiceovers, the other 4 tools fit better.

Cost per minute

Cost per minute is plan price divided by the vendor's stated minutes. These are our calculations, using monthly prices as shown.

PlanMonthly priceIncluded audioCost per minute
ElevenLabs Starter$6About 30 minutes$0.200
ElevenLabs Creator$22About 121 minutes$0.182
Kveeky Basic$9100 minutes$0.090
Kveeky Pro$19.99133 minutes$0.150
Typecast Basic$5About 35 minutes$0.143
WellSaid Starter$1920 minutes$0.950

Murf and Speechify are missing because the pages we read did not state minutes. Cheaper per minute is not better per minute: ElevenLabs sells a larger library and an API. If you only need steady narration, the gap is real. For more on plan sizing, see our guide to free vs paid text to speech.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free alternative to ElevenLabs?

It depends on what you need from a free plan. Murf's free plan lists 10 minutes of voice generation. Kveeky Free gives 500 credits a month (about 40 seconds) with no credit card. WellSaid gives 3 download minutes a month with no commercial rights.

Is there a cheaper alternative to ElevenLabs?

On our calculation, yes. Kveeky Basic is about $0.09 a minute on monthly billing, and Typecast Basic about $0.143. ElevenLabs Starter works out to about $0.20 a minute. The cheaper tools have smaller libraries and fewer features.

Can I use these tools commercially?

On paid plans, mostly yes. ElevenLabs, Kveeky, WellSaid and Typecast list commercial rights on paid plans, and Murf says it provides them. Free plans do not include commercial rights, and Typecast Free needs attribution. Speechify's pages did not state it. This is not legal advice.

Which alternative has voice cloning?

ElevenLabs has instant cloning from Starter and professional cloning from Creator. Typecast has an Instant Cloning slot from Basic. Murf offers cloning on paid plans, but which plan was not stated. Check each pricing page for your plan.

Does anything match ElevenLabs on realism?

We think ElevenLabs leads on realism, and none of these tools claims otherwise. Judge by ear: paste your own script into each free plan and listen before you pay.

How this guide was sourced

This guide is written by Hitesh Kumawat for the Kveeky team. Disclosure: Kveeky makes an AI voice generator. We list ElevenLabs first, say where it wins, and use no Kveeky usage data. Figures marked as vendor figures are the vendors' own claims, and where a page did not state a fact, we left it out.

Your next step: pick your top 2 tools from the table, run the same 60-second script through both free plans, and compare them with your monthly minutes. When you want to test Kveeky, start on the plans on the pricing page.
